In-Flight Tragedy: Senior Citizen Passes Away on Bengaluru-Lucknow Route
A routine domestic flight turned into a scene of tragedy on Monday when a 70-year-old passenger suffered a medical emergency mid-air. The incident occurred aboard Air India Express flight IX-2048, which was en route from Bengaluru to Lucknow.
The passenger, identified as Chandrashekhar Kumar, a resident of Bengaluru, suddenly lost consciousness during the journey. The flight crew immediately initiated emergency protocols to assist him.
Swift Coordination for Emergency Landing
Upon recognizing the gravity of the situation, the pilot of the aircraft proactively alerted the authorities at Lucknow's Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport. This advance warning allowed ground teams to spring into action.
Medical teams and an ambulance were put on standby, prepared for an immediate response the moment the aircraft touched down. The flight successfully landed at the Lucknow airport at 12:40 pm.
Rush to Hospital Ends in Heartbreak
As soon as the aircraft reached its designated parking bay, the emergency response was activated. Chandrashekhar Kumar was swiftly transferred from the plane into a waiting ambulance.
He was then rushed to Lok Bandhu Hospital for urgent medical care. Despite the rapid transition and immediate attention from doctors, the efforts to save him were unsuccessful.
Medical officer Dr. Ajay Shankar Tripathi confirmed the sad outcome. He stated that the passenger was brought to the hospital without any signs of life and was subsequently declared dead on arrival.
The trip held a personal purpose for Kumar. He was traveling to Lucknow to visit his daughter, whose in-laws reside in the city. The sudden incident has left the family and fellow passengers in shock, underscoring the unpredictable nature of such medical emergencies during air travel.
