In a high-stakes medical mission, a newborn baby boy battling life-threatening birth complications was transported in a critical convoy from Koppal to Hubballi under unprecedented zero-traffic arrangements this Sunday. The infant, suffering from protruding intestines and a kidney-related issue, required immediate advanced surgical intervention to survive.
A Race Against Time Begins
The infant was born to parents Mallappa and Vijayalakshmi, residents of Guttur village in Kukanur taluk. On the night of December 27, the newborn was first taken to the government hospital in Kukanur after a complicated delivery where his intestines were found protruding. Recognizing the severity of the condition, which demanded specialised paediatric surgical care, doctors referred the baby to the Mother and Child Hospital in Koppal for initial stabilisation.
The Massive Zero-Traffic Medical Convoy
After providing essential initial treatment, doctors at the Koppal hospital made the crucial decision to shift the infant to the well-equipped KIMS Hospital in Hubballi for advanced surgery. To ensure a seamless and uninterrupted journey for the fragile patient, authorities orchestrated a large-scale transfer operation.
A convoy of five ambulances was deployed for the mission. The lead ambulance, carrying the infant, was driven by Prakash, while paramedics inside provided continuous medical support throughout the transit. To eliminate any delays, police personnel from Koppal, Gadag, and Dharwad districts coordinated meticulously. They cleared all major roads along the route, enforcing a strict zero-traffic corridor to allow the emergency vehicles to pass without a single halt.
Critical Fight for Life Continues
Upon reaching KIMS Hospital in Hubballi, the newborn immediately underwent the necessary surgical procedure. However, the battle is far from over. Despite the surgery, the baby's condition remains critical. Medical teams are continuing their relentless efforts to stabilise the infant and save his young life.
This extraordinary operation highlights the lengths to which medical and civic authorities will go to facilitate emergency care. The coordinated effort between multiple district police forces and healthcare professionals ensured that the baby received a fighting chance, showcasing a remarkable response to a dire medical crisis.
