Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath officially opened a state-of-the-art 550-bed private hospital in Noida's Sector 50 on Thursday, marking a significant milestone in the state's healthcare development journey. The CM described the new facility as a clear indicator of UP's accelerated progress in medical infrastructure.
Healthcare Accessibility Takes Center Stage
During the inauguration ceremony, Adityanath emphasized that affordability and easy access have become fundamental principles of the state's health policy. He specifically highlighted the transformative role of the Ayushman Bharat scheme in reducing financial pressure on patients seeking medical treatment.
The Chief Minister pointed to Uttar Pradesh's remarkable transformation over recent years, stating that the state has shifted from its previous reputation of "one district, one mafia" to the current reality of "each district, one medical college." This dramatic change underscores the government's committed focus on enhancing healthcare delivery systems across the state.
Medanta Hospital: A Tertiary Care Powerhouse
The newly inaugurated Medanta Hospital, constructed across a five-acre campus, represents a major addition to Noida's healthcare landscape. The facility boasts 25 super-specialty departments covering critical areas including cardiology, oncology, neurosciences, gastroenterology, and orthopedics.
According to Dr. Naresh Trehan, the hospital's Chairman and Managing Director, the institution is equipped with substantial critical care infrastructure, featuring 130 ICU beds and 16 modern operating theaters. Officials anticipate that this new hospital will significantly enhance tertiary care capabilities for residents of Noida and surrounding regions.
Broader Healthcare Modernization Initiatives
Adityanath also outlined the state government's comprehensive efforts to modernize healthcare services. He revealed plans for establishing a center of excellence through collaboration with IIT Kanpur, aimed at advancing research and innovation in medical sciences and technology.
The expansion of tele-consultation services has already yielded positive results, helping patients save on travel expenses while providing access to specialist care from remote locations. "We are committed to adopting new technologies and strengthening their use across the health system," the Chief Minister affirmed.
Praising the Ayushman Bharat scheme, Adityanath noted that before its implementation, numerous families were forced to sell property to afford medical treatment. "With Ayushman Bharat, people can access quality healthcare without falling into debt," he stated, adding that in the past year alone, hospitals received Rs 1,300 crore under various schemes for treating economically disadvantaged patients.
Security and Traffic Management
The Chief Minister's visit prompted significant security arrangements, with authorities deploying more than 1,000 police personnel and two PAC battalions to ensure smooth operations. Commercial vehicles were redirected via the Eastern Peripheral Expressway during the events.
However, the VIP movement caused substantial traffic disruptions on the Noida Expressway during Thursday afternoon. Commuters experienced lengthy delays, with tailbacks stretching from the Mahamaya Flyover to the Film City intersection. Some motorists reported complete standstills lasting 15-20 minutes, leading to frustration expressed on social media platforms.
Earlier in the day, Adityanath visited Muradnagar in Ghaziabad, where he unveiled a statue of the 23rd Tirthankar Parshvanath and inaugurated a cave temple at a Jain community gathering. Before the hospital inauguration, he also reviewed progress at the Noida International Airport site in Jewar and later visited GB Nagar MP Mahesh Sharma's residence in Sector 15-A to offer condolences following his mother's passing.
