Hoof GP's Double Hand Injury: YouTube Star Faces Year-End Hiatus
YouTuber Hoof GP Injures Both Hands, Out for Rest of Year

Graeme Parker, the Scottish cattle hoof-trimming expert famous on YouTube as The Hoof GP, is facing a challenging recovery after sustaining two serious hand injuries in a freak half-hour accident spree at the end of November. The incident has forced the dedicated workaholic to take an unplanned break from work for the remainder of the year.

A Painful Double Blow: How the Injuries Happened

The YouTuber detailed the unfortunate sequence of events in updates shared on his social media. The first injury occurred while he was off-camera, holding a gate with his bare hand. A cow's violent kick struck his middle finger, rupturing the protective sheath around the tendon inside. Demonstrating his typical resilience, Parker simply wrapped the injured finger and continued with his work.

Tragically, his ordeal was far from over. Merely thirty minutes later, while filming content, he accidentally sliced another finger with his sharp hoof-trimming knife. This double whammy left him with blood-covered fingers, a sight that deeply concerned his fans when he posted the photos online.

From A&E to Surgery: A Serious Setback

What initially seemed like manageable wounds quickly escalated. Parker visited the Accident and Emergency (A&E) department, where doctors assessed him for potential tendon damage. The situation was serious enough to require surgery.

The pain was unprecedented for the farmer, who is accustomed to physical work. "Usually I'm really good with pain or anything like that, but I'll be honest, this seriously hurt," Parker admitted. He confessed to being "pretty worried" about the state of his finger.

The post-surgery days were equally gruelling. He described feeling like he'd "been hit by a train," possibly from the effects of morphine leaving his body. Shivering and deep pain led doctors to re-examine his wounds for any signs of infection.

Forced Hiatus and the Road to Recovery

The most difficult news for the work-centric creator was the medical advice to stop working. Doctors instructed him to stay off work for the rest of the year, a directive he struggled to accept. "I'm just panicking because they told me I have to be off work for the rest of the year… I don't want to be off for another day, never mind for the rest of the year," he shared, highlighting his dedication.

His recovery journey now includes upcoming appointments with a physiotherapist. While he thanked his viewers for their supportive and "comforting" messages, he acknowledged that fans will have to wait a considerable time for his full-time return to creating content. All injury-related updates have been compiled into a video on his YouTube channel, marking a tough end to the year for The Hoof GP.
