Girl Dies by Suicide After Parents Refuse Study-from-Home Request

A pall of gloom descended over Yadiki in Anantapur district after a Class 9 girl allegedly died by suicide. The deceased, identified as Pallavi (14), had recently passed Class 8 at the Gurukul Patashala in Seethamma Thanda and was promoted to Class 9.

According to reports, Pallavi told her parents she did not want to continue her education. Shocked by her statement, they reprimanded her. She then pleaded with them to allow her to study from home instead of being admitted to a hostel, but her parents refused.

On Tuesday, Pallavi's father Srinivasulu was supposed to drop her at the Gurukul Patashala hostel in Seethamma Thanda. However, the Class 9 student, who had reportedly slipped into depression, allegedly died by suicide at her home.
