Lucknow man dies by suicide over hair loss distress

A young vegetable vendor from Lucknow, who was soon to be married, tragically ended his life by jumping into the Gomti River, police confirmed on Friday. The 28-year-old man from Kakori had been missing for five days before his body was discovered.

Body Recovered Near Ghela Pul

On Friday afternoon, the deceased's body was seen floating in the Gomti River near Ghela Pul in the Thakurganj area. The family identified the young man as Lalit (name used as per source). According to his grieving relatives, Lalit was deeply troubled by rapid hair thinning and excessive hair fall, which had severely impacted his mental state.

A Distressed Disappearance

The sequence of events began on Monday morning. Lalit left his home after having breakfast without informing any family members. When he failed to return, worried relatives tried contacting him but could not reach his phone. A search of his room revealed that he had left behind his mobile phone, Aadhaar card, and other personal belongings.

With no leads, the family officially reported him as a missing person at the Kakori police station. The search continued until Friday evening, when they received the devastating news that a body had been found in the river near Ghela Pul. They immediately rushed to the location and confirmed it was Lalit.

Family Cites Mental Distress from Hair Product

In their statements to the police, the family did not raise any allegations of foul play. Thakurganj Station House Officer Omveer Singh Chauhan stated that the family attributed the death to suicide. They revealed that Lalit had become increasingly irritable and often spoke of feeling mentally disturbed after using a particular hair product. They believe this profound distress over his changing appearance led him to take the extreme step.

Lalit's wedding was scheduled for February, adding to the tragedy of his untimely death. After the mandatory post-mortem examination, his body was handed over to his family for last rites. The incident highlights the severe impact that personal appearance concerns and mental health issues can have on individuals, sometimes with fatal consequences.
