In Balrampur, approximately a dozen girls studying at a Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya, situated on the premises of the district basic education office, fell ill unexpectedly on Thursday, according to officials. Eight students were admitted to the district hospital, and the district administration ordered the closure of all Kasturba schools in the district due to the prevailing heat and humidity.

Details of the Incident

Emergency physician Dr Rishi Srivastava at District Memorial Hospital reported that eight girls were brought to the hospital via ambulance. Among them, three were unconscious, while the other five were also unwell and are currently receiving treatment. The students complained of symptoms including fainting, vomiting, and headache. Dr Srivastava confirmed that all of them are in stable condition and are being treated.

District Administration Response

District Magistrate Vipin Jain stated that upon receiving information about the incident, a team of doctors was dispatched to the Kasturba School to examine the remaining students. He added that instructions have been issued to declare a holiday for all Kasturba schools in the district in view of the ongoing heat and humidity conditions.
