30 blankets given to patient attendants in Lucknow winter drive

In a heartening display of community solidarity, the Inner Wheel Club of Lucknow carried out a significant winter relief effort on Friday. The organization distributed essential blankets to the attendants of patients who are staying at the Ren Basera facility near the Apex Trauma Centre at SGPGIMS.

Warmth for Those in Need

The winter outreach initiative saw the distribution of approximately 30 blankets. This act aimed directly at providing warmth and comfort to the family members and attendants who stay at the shelter, often enduring chilly nights while their loved ones receive medical treatment at the premier institute.

Dignitaries Grace the Distribution Drive

The event was conducted in the presence of notable figures from the medical and social spheres. Prof R Harsvardhan, who serves as the Additional Medical Superintendent of the Apex Trauma Centre and the Medical Superintendent of SGPGIMS, was present to support the cause. He was joined by Dr Minakshi Singh, the President of the Inner Wheel Club, along with several other dedicated members of the club.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof Harsvardhan emphasized the institute's holistic approach to healthcare. He stated that SGPGIMS remains committed to patient welfare that extends far beyond just clinical care and medical procedures. He strongly stressed the crucial role played by community participation in supporting vulnerable groups during difficult times.

A Mission of Compassion

Dr Minakshi Singh explained the core motivation behind the drive. She said the initiative was fundamentally designed to offer physical warmth and emotional comfort to the attendants throughout the harsh winter season. The club recognized the hardships faced by these individuals, who prioritize their family member's health over their own comfort.

This blanket distribution drive underscores a powerful collaboration between a healthcare institution and a civic organization. It highlights how targeted community action can effectively address immediate needs and supplement the efforts of large public systems, making a tangible difference in people's lives during challenging weather conditions.
