The prolonged administrative apathy in ongoing road and sewerage development works has triggered a severe health emergency in Hisar's Adampur constituency, with asthma cases surging dramatically and forcing numerous residents to consider abandoning their homes.
Public Outcry at MLA's Court
During MLA Chander Prakash's public court session held at the PWD Rest House in Mandi Adampur, frustrated residents voiced their grievances and submitted a detailed memorandum highlighting the area's deteriorating living conditions. The memorandum revealed that large sections of Adampur have remained dug up for nearly three years under the guise of development projects that have since stalled indefinitely.
With construction work abandoned and project management in complete disarray, dust pollution has reached critical levels, transforming the town into a health hazard zone. The situation has become so unbearable that many families, including prominent local traders, are actively considering relocation to safer environments.
Health Crisis and Infrastructure Collapse
Local residents reported that the extended delay in repairing dilapidated roads and initiating promised new construction has created perpetual dust storms throughout the town. This environmental degradation has directly contributed to a steady increase in asthma and various respiratory ailments among the population, particularly affecting children and elderly residents.
Beyond the respiratory health emergency, citizens also highlighted chronic infrastructure failures that have plagued their daily lives. The complaints encompassed multiple essential services including faulty sewerage systems, contaminated drinking water supply, erratic electricity distribution, and collapsing health services that have left the community vulnerable.
MLA's Immediate Intervention and Demands
Responding to the urgent public outcry, MLA Chander Prakash immediately engaged with concerned officials on the spot, directing them to implement corrective measures without delay. He emphasized that residents must receive essential amenities without any compromise to their health and wellbeing.
The MLA disclosed that he had previously raised Adampur's longstanding infrastructure issues during the assembly session, presenting comprehensive data about roads, sewerage, drinking water, electricity, health facilities, and irrigation water before the chief minister and the speaker. "Despite this, construction work in Adampur continues to be neglected," he stated, urging the government to intervene directly and instruct relevant departments to fast-track all pending development projects.
Chander Prakash demanded immediate restoration of clean drinking water, stable electricity supply, and adequate irrigation water for farmers across multiple villages including Mandi Adampur, Adampur Line Par, Adampur village, Sadalpur, Balsamand, Siswal, and Kalirawan.
Demonstrating his commitment to resolving the crisis, the MLA conducted a surprise visit to Sadalpur where he inspected the local water tank. Finding the facility in poor condition, he immediately contacted the chief engineer and requested urgent cleaning operations to ensure the supply of safe drinking water to residents.
The situation in Adampur constituency represents a critical case of development projects turning into health hazards due to administrative negligence and prolonged delays, creating an environmental crisis that demands immediate government intervention.
