The Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) has sounded a dengue alert as the monsoon season arrives in the city. Dr. SS Madani, Chief Health Officer of the GBA's Public Health Department, on Friday directed officials to take precautionary measures to prevent a potential outbreak of the mosquito-borne disease.
Precautionary Measures Ordered
Dr. Madani emphasized the need for proactive steps, including intensified fogging operations, removal of stagnant water, and public awareness campaigns. Officials have been instructed to monitor high-risk areas closely and ensure that hospitals are prepared with adequate supplies and diagnostic facilities.
Public Health Advisory
The GBA has urged residents to keep their surroundings clean, use mosquito repellents, and seek medical attention if symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, joint pain, or rash appear. The authority also stressed the importance of community participation in eliminating breeding sites.
With the onset of monsoon, the risk of dengue transmission increases due to favorable conditions for mosquito breeding. The GBA's alert aims to minimize the impact and ensure timely response.
