NEW DELHI: Indira Gandhi International Airport has issued a health advisory on Thursday for passengers traveling from or transiting through Ebola-affected countries, directing those showing symptoms to immediately report to airport health authorities for screening.
Details of the Advisory
According to the advisory issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) under the Union Health Ministry, travelers arriving from countries reporting Ebola cases — including the Democratic Republic of Congo, Uganda, and South Sudan — have been asked to remain alert for symptoms associated with the disease.
The advisory states that passengers experiencing symptoms such as fever, vomiting, diarrhea, headache, muscle pain, weakness, sore throat, or unexplained bleeding must immediately report to the Airport Health Officer or health desk before immigration clearance.
Precautionary Measures
Authorities have also advised travelers who may have come into direct contact with the blood or bodily fluids of a suspected or confirmed Ebola patient to undergo immediate screening. The notice further stated that any passenger developing symptoms within 21 days of arrival should seek medical care without delay and inform healthcare officials about their travel history.
The advisory has been issued as part of preventive public health measures and enhanced airport surveillance protocols.
