Kanpur: An 11-year-old girl died under suspicious circumstances in Gulabpur village under the Phaphund police station area after her condition deteriorated following the final dose of an anti-rabies vaccine course taken after a dog bite, according to police and family members.

Incident Details

Gunjan, daughter of Ravinder Singh Nayak, was playing outside her home on May 15 when a dog bit and injured her. The family took her to Dibiyapur Community Health Centre (CHC), where she received the first dose of the anti-rabies vaccine. As per the prescribed schedule, the second and third doses were administered on May 18 and May 22, respectively. On May 29, she was given the fourth and final dose.

Sudden Deterioration

It is alleged that as soon as Gunjan returned home from the hospital, her condition suddenly began to deteriorate. The family rushed her to a medical college, where doctors treated her, but there was no improvement. Subsequently, the family took her to a private hospital in Kanpur, but she died on the way.
