Gujarat Cancer Institute Treats 1,327 Brain Tumour Patients

Ahmedabad: As World Brain Tumour Day is observed on Monday, the Gujarat Cancer Research Institute (GCRI) has reported treating 1,327 patients over the past five years. Dr Shashank Pandya, director of GCRI, highlighted that modern techniques have significantly reduced complications in brain tumour surgeries. These advancements also help manage conditions such as cavernous haemangioma and hemangioblastoma.

Free Treatment Under PM-JAY

Dr Pandya stated that eligible patients can receive treatment free of cost under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY) scheme. This initiative ensures that financial constraints do not hinder access to critical care.

Symptoms to Watch For

GCRI officials urged individuals to undergo medical check-ups if they experience persistent and severe headaches, recurring seizures, confusion or brain fog, double vision, or occasional vomiting and nausea. Early detection can improve treatment outcomes significantly.
