Gujarat Drug Drive for Filaria in Four Talukas

Health officials in Gujarat are taking urgent action after filaria cases emerged in four talukas across three districts. The parasitic infection, known as lymphatic filariasis or elephantiasis, has affected Netrang taluka in Bharuch district. It has also spread to Nandod and Dediapada talukas in Narmada district. Waghai taluka in Dang district is reporting cases too.

State Health Commissioner Reviews Situation

The state health commissioner called a meeting on Friday to assess the filaria outbreak. Officials discussed the current situation in the affected areas. They reviewed measures to control the spread of the disease.

Massive Drug Administration Drive Planned

A large-scale drug administration campaign will start soon. The drive is scheduled to run from February 10 to February 12. Health workers will distribute medication in all four talukas. This effort aims to treat infected individuals and prevent further transmission.

Filaria is a serious health concern caused by parasitic worms. It can lead to painful swelling and disability if left untreated. The state government is mobilizing resources to address this public health challenge promptly.
