Gujarat Launches Mobile Health Units for Remote Areas

In a significant move to extend healthcare services to remote tribal settlements, the Gujarat government on Wednesday launched 51 two-wheeler mobile health units. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel also flagged off nine mobile health vans that will operate across 14 districts during an event held in Gandhinagar.

Strengthening Healthcare in Inaccessible Regions

The initiative, spearheaded by the state health department, aims to bolster healthcare delivery in tribal and hard-to-reach areas. The primary goal is to ensure that essential medical services reach residents at their doorstep, overcoming geographical barriers.

Specialized Two-Wheeler Units

These 51 two-wheeler mobile health units have been specifically designed for locations where four-wheel vehicles cannot operate due to difficult terrain, poor road connectivity, or other geographical constraints. Each unit is equipped with a medical box containing essential medicines and primary healthcare equipment.

The vehicles carry digital blood pressure monitors, stethoscopes, glucometers, clinical thermometers, hemoglobin meters, and other necessary tools to provide basic medical check-ups and treatments.

Real-Time Monitoring via GPS

The government has implemented GPS-based real-time monitoring for all units to ensure that beneficiaries receive healthcare facilities promptly. This technology will help track the movement and service delivery of each unit, enhancing accountability and efficiency.
