Kanpur Food Safety Department Launches Major Inspection Drive Against Packaged Water Units

The Food Security Department in Kanpur has initiated a comprehensive inspection campaign targeting packaged drinking water units operating across the district. This decisive action aims to rigorously verify compliance with established quality and safety standards for drinking water.

Extensive Inspections Reveal Significant Non-Compliance

Acting on specific directives from Kanpur Nagar District Magistrate Jitendra Pratap Singh, a specialized team of food safety officers conducted thorough inspections at 26 different packaged drinking water facilities. During this extensive drive, officials discovered that 10 of these units were not operational and were found closed at the time of inspection.

For the operational units that were examined, the inspection team identified multiple violations of prescribed quality standards. These deficiencies raised serious concerns about the safety and purity of the drinking water being distributed to consumers throughout the Kanpur district.

Immediate Regulatory Actions Taken Against Violators

Based on the concerning observations made during the inspections, authorities have taken swift regulatory action. The food safety department has formally recommended to the central licensing authority the suspension of operating licences for four specific packaged drinking water units found to be in significant violation of standards.

Simultaneously, in a parallel enforcement action, the department has already suspended the food licences of four state-licensed units. Further disciplinary proceedings are currently being initiated against these establishments to ensure comprehensive accountability.
