The Ludhiana food safety team conducted special inspections of street food vendors and hawkers across the city on Wednesday, alongside a focused inspection of an ice cream manufacturing unit. Two ice cream samples were collected from the unit and sent for laboratory analysis.
Inspections and Sampling
During the inspections, the team examined the quality of food items, hygiene standards, and compliance with the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) regulations. Officials stated that legal action, if necessary, will be initiated based on the test reports under the provisions of the Food Safety and Standards Act.
The 'Food Safety on Wheels' team also conducted an awareness campaign in the Subhash Nagar and Jalandhar Bypass areas, educating food business operators and the public on the importance of consuming safe, hygienic, and quality food products.
Compliance and Public Health Commitment
The team urged food business operators to comply with FSSAI regulations, maintain high standards of hygiene, and provide consumers with safe and quality products. District Health Officer Dr. Ashish Chawla emphasized the commitment of the district administration and the Health Department to ensuring safe and quality food for the public.
“Strict legal action will be taken against anyone found violating food safety regulations,” Dr. Chawla said. He appealed to all food business operators to ensure compliance with FSSAI standards by maintaining cleanliness, food quality, and hygiene at their establishments to safeguard public health.
The inspections covered multiple markets, and vendors were sensitized to food safety practices. Officials noted that regular monitoring would continue to uphold food safety standards across Ludhiana.
