A tragic incident in a remote village of Jharkhand has highlighted the dangers of seeking treatment from unqualified medical practitioners. A 45-year-old man died allegedly after being administered injections and medicines by a quack operating an illegal clinic.
Fatal Night in Chiloi Village
The incident occurred in Chiloi village under Nawadih panchayat of Kunda block in Chatra district. The victim, identified as Keshar Bharti (45), passed away on the intervening night of Sunday and Monday. According to sources, his condition deteriorated rapidly after receiving treatment from the accused.
The accused, named Ashutosh Kumar, was reportedly operating under the name Anshu Clinic. He ran this setup from the rented house of one Tapeswar Singh at Chiloi, posing a serious risk to public health in the area.
Wife's Heartbreaking Account
The victim's wife, Anita Devi, provided a harrowing account of the night. "We called Ashutosh Kumar after Keshar complained of vomiting and loose motion late Sunday night," she said. She alleged that the quack gave three injections and five tablets to my husband without examining him properly.
"But soon after, Keshar started itching his body and became restless," Anita Devi recounted. She stated that Ashutosh told the family not to panic and left the premises. Tragically, her husband died within minutes after Ashutosh left, leaving the family in shock and despair.
Authorities Promise Action
Following the incident, local health authorities have taken note. Officer in-charge of Kunda community health centre, Kumar Sanjeev, addressed the matter. He assured that a probe will be conducted and action will be taken against the accused, if found guilty.
This case brings to the fore the persistent issue of illegal medical practice in rural and semi-urban areas, where access to qualified healthcare remains a challenge. It underscores the urgent need for stricter vigilance and public awareness against such dangerous practices.
