A tragic incident in Uttar Pradesh's Bhadohi district has resulted in the death of a 50-year-old man, who fell into a bonfire after suffering an epileptic seizure. The event has cast a pall of gloom over Bhakora village under the Chauri police station area.
Details of the Tragic Night
The incident occurred on Saturday night around 8 pm. The deceased, identified as Basawan, also known as Kallu, had a known medical history of epilepsy. According to police officials, Basawan had lit a bonfire outside his house to keep himself warm in the winter chill.
Station House Officer (SHO) Ram Sarikh Gautam stated that Basawan was sitting near the fire when he was suddenly struck by a seizure. This caused him to collapse forward, directly into the flames. At that moment, his wife, Jaydei, was inside their home and was unaware of the unfolding tragedy.
Discovery by Villagers and Police Response
It was approximately half an hour later that villagers noticed a disturbing smell of burning flesh and rushed to the spot. They discovered the horrifying scene of Basawan lying face down in the bonfire, with nearly half of his body severely burnt. He was already deceased by the time help arrived.
Police were informed and promptly reached the location. After a thorough examination of the body, it was handed over to the grieving family. The last rites of Basawan were performed on Saturday night itself, bringing a swift and sorrowful end to the distressing episode.
