Over 30 Lakh Screened for TB in UP Under Campaign

Lucknow: More than 30 lakh individuals have been screened for tuberculosis (TB) in Uttar Pradesh during the first 10 weeks of the Centre’s 100-day TB-Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, officials from King George’s Medical University (KGMU) confirmed on Wednesday.

Detection and Treatment

Out of those screened, a total of 1.43 lakh patients were identified, including over 41,000 individuals who exhibited no symptoms of the disease. The intensive screening campaign has specifically targeted high-risk villages, urban wards, slums, and other vulnerable pockets across the state. Officials stated that treatment has been initiated for all diagnosed patients.

Review and Directives

Additional Chief Secretary (Medical and Health) Amit Kumar Ghosh reviewed the campaign’s progress and directed officials to intensify efforts in areas where results have fallen short of expectations. He emphasized the need for improved micro-planning, intensified door-to-door outreach, and wider public awareness activities to ensure the campaign's success.
