The Satna district hospital authorities have issued show-cause notices to four doctors and approximately twenty nursing officers for alleged negligence, officials confirmed on Tuesday.

The controversy erupted last week when a video clip, purportedly filmed inside the SNCU at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Government District Hospital in Satna, surfaced on social media. The footage showed rodents moving freely in the unit dedicated to critically ill newborns, sparking public outrage and serious questions about hygiene standards in public healthcare.
In response, the district health authorities conducted a detailed internal review of the CCTV footage from the sensitive ward. Civil Surgeon Amar Singh stated that the video evidence was examined meticulously, leading to the disciplinary move. He also indicated that the video appeared, prima facie, to have been recorded by hospital staff members themselves.
