Tripura CM launches health drive, reveals screening data

In a significant push to improve public health outcomes, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha has called upon the state's residents to make a firm New Year's resolution to combat the growing threat of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) and cancer. The CM emphasized embracing healthier lifestyles and increasing awareness about preventive measures as key strategies.

Revealing the Scale: Statewide Screening Numbers

CM Saha disclosed detailed data from the past year's health screening efforts, painting a clear picture of the challenge. A total of 6.8 lakh people in Tripura were screened for diabetes and high blood pressure. From this massive exercise, medical professionals diagnosed 25,259 individuals with diabetes and identified 49,153 cases of high blood pressure.

The focus on women's health was equally robust. Screening programs reached 5.28 lakh women for breast cancer and another 1 lakh women for cervical cancer. The state government ensured that all individuals diagnosed with these conditions were promptly enrolled in medical treatment programs and placed under a system of regular follow-up care to monitor their health.

A Systematic Campaign for Comprehensive Care

To tackle these health issues more effectively, the Chief Minister announced the launch of a dedicated campaign. This initiative aims to systematically implement and scale up screening, treatment, and follow-up programs for non-communicable diseases across Tripura. The goal is to ensure no one is left behind and that comprehensive care is accessible statewide, Saha stated.

Tech-Driven Advances and a New Health Mission

Saha also highlighted notable technological advancements in Tripura's healthcare sector. One key development is the introduction of a pilot training module for tuberculosis that is powered by Artificial Intelligence (AI). This move represents a significant step in adopting modern medical technologies and aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of leveraging innovation for societal welfare.

Underlining the government's commitment to forward-thinking health strategies, the CM launched the Mukhyamantri Niramay Arogya Abhiyan. This new initiative is specifically designed to deliver affordable, high-quality, and timely healthcare services to individuals from all sections of society, aiming to bridge existing gaps in the healthcare delivery system.

The combined approach of mass awareness, large-scale screening, systematic treatment, and the integration of technology underscores the state government's intensified focus on creating a healthier Tripura in the coming year.
