TTD Partners with CFTRI to Boost Prasadam Safety and Quality
TTD-CFTRI Pact for Prasadam Quality Enhancement

Tirupati: In a move to enhance the safety, nutrition and quality of Srivari Prasadams, Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has entered into a strategic partnership with the CSIR-Central Food Technological Research Institute (CFTRI), Mysuru.

Strategic Partnership Signed

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the two organisations to integrate modern scientific protocols into TTD’s large-scale food preparation, storage and testing systems, while preserving the traditional sanctity and authenticity of the offerings.

Quality Control Measures

Under the agreement, joint teams of experts will develop and implement stringent quality-control measures, standard operating procedures (SOPs) and robust monitoring systems. These protocols will cover the entire supply chain—from procurement of raw materials to distribution of prasadams to millions of devotees.

TTD additional executive officer Ch Venkaiah Chowdary said CFTRI will provide expert consultancy to upgrade existing infrastructure, particularly storage facilities and food testing laboratories. The institute will recommend scientifically validated technologies and best-practice workflows to minimise contamination risks and improve product consistency.

Research and Development

The collaboration will also focus on research in packaging and shelf-life extension, enabling prasadams to retain freshness and stability for longer periods without affecting their taste, texture or cultural value.

Capacity Building

Capacity building is a key component of the initiative. CFTRI will train TTD’s food analysts and handlers in advanced analytical methods, precise sampling techniques and contaminant detection. Special emphasis will be laid on critical quality checks such as ghee purity and aroma profiling.

Senior scientists from CFTRI will make periodic visits to Tirupati to assist in implementation, conduct validation studies, and support long-term planning for procurement and storage systems.
