For nearly nine months, a teenage boy has been lying in the hospital bed at King George’s Medical University (KGMU), far from home and without a familiar face by his side. His identity remains unknown, and his family is untraceable.
Patient's Condition and Treatment
The boy, estimated to be around 16 years old, has been undergoing treatment since August 7, 2025, when he was brought in after falling from a train in Barabanki. He suffered a serious head injury and underwent neurosurgery the following day. Since then, he has been admitted to the neurosurgery ward on the 5th floor of Shatabdi Hospital (Phase 2). While his condition has stabilized, he is unable to speak clearly or provide any details about his identity or family.
Hospital's Appeal
Head of the neurosurgery department, Prof BK Ojha, stated that the patient’s inability to communicate has made it difficult to establish who he is or where he comes from. Hospital authorities have appealed to the public for help. Anyone with information can contact the social service officer at Shatabdi Hospital, Ashwini.
The case highlights the challenges faced by hospitals in identifying patients with no documents or communication ability. The hospital continues to provide care while hoping that someone will recognize the boy and help reunite him with his family.
