Health officials in Madurai district sealed an unlicensed private clinic near Katchaikatti in Vadipatti on Saturday after discovering that a man with only a Class X education was allegedly treating patients there. Acting on a tip-off, a team led by Madurai district deputy director of health services Dr Selvaraj, along with Vadipatti Government Hospital medical officer Dr Dhanasekaran, drug inspector Paandi Muneeswari, and pharmacist Muthulakshmi, conducted the inspection.
Inspection Details
During the raid, officials questioned Jayachandran, 40, who was attending to patients at the clinic. Sources revealed that Jayachandran admitted during the inquiry that he had studied only up to Class X. The team also found stocks of allopathic medicines at the premises, raising serious concerns about illegal medical practice.

The clinic was immediately sealed for violating health regulations. Based on a complaint lodged by Dr Dhanasekaran, the Vadipatti police registered a case against Jayachandran for practising medicine without proper qualifications. An investigation has been launched to determine the extent of his illegal activities and any potential harm caused to patients.
