UP Food Safety Authority Cracks Down on Packaged Water Units
The Uttar Pradesh Food Safety and Drug Administration (FSDA) has taken stringent action against packaged water processing units across the state. On Saturday, the regulatory body suspended licenses and ordered the closure of 159 packaged drinking water and packaged mineral water processing facilities. This decisive move comes in response to grave violations of established food safety norms discovered during a comprehensive enforcement drive.
Statewide Crackdown Ensures Public Health
The suspensions followed a coordinated statewide crackdown conducted by inter-district enforcement teams. The primary objective of this operation was to ensure the supply of safe, hygienic, and quality drinking water to the public. During inspections, authorities uncovered widespread non-compliance with regulatory standards, raising significant concerns about water safety.
Directive Issued for Compliance Reporting
In light of the alarming findings, FSDA Commissioner Roshan Jacob issued a crucial directive on Friday. All Assistant Commissioners (Food), Grade-II across Uttar Pradesh have been instructed to submit a detailed compliance report by January 27. This report will document the actions taken and the current status of the suspended units, ensuring accountability and transparency in the regulatory process.
The crackdown highlights the administration's commitment to protecting consumer health and enforcing strict quality controls in the packaged water industry. Residents are advised to remain vigilant and report any concerns regarding water quality to the appropriate authorities.
