Palakkad: A 62-year-old woman succumbed to dengue fever on Saturday in Karimpuzha, Palakkad, as confirmed by health officials. The deceased has been identified as Mariya, a resident of Kannichal in Ambalampadam, Pombra, located within the Karimpuzha panchayat limits.
According to relatives, Mariya had been experiencing high fever since Thursday. She initially sought medical care at the Elambulassery primary health centre. However, as her condition did not improve, she was transferred to a private hospital in Vattambalam near Mannarkkad on Friday.
Despite receiving treatment, Mariya's health continued to deteriorate, leading to her death on Saturday morning, relatives reported. In response to her death, health department officials have initiated surveillance activities in the area and are closely monitoring the situation to identify any additional suspected dengue cases.
