Worm-Like Creature Found in Tap Water in Goa's Sattari Region

A blackish worm-like creature was found in tap water supplied to a house in Zarme village under Mauxi Panchayat on Tuesday, raising fresh concerns over drinking water safety in Sattari.

Incident Details

The organism was reportedly discovered in the household water supply of Budhaji Gawas. Following the complaint, Public Works Department (PWD) officials collected the specimen and water samples for laboratory testing and initiated precautionary measures.

Immediate Actions Taken

The department flushed the distribution line and cleaned the village water storage tank. Water supply to the area has been suspended for two days to facilitate cleaning and inspection.

Recurring Issue

The incident is the second such case reported in the Mauxi Panchayat area in recent months. In April, residents had reported finding a similar worm-like organism in the drinking water supply.

Villagers' Demands

The recurrence has prompted villagers to demand a thorough inquiry into the source of contamination and measures to ensure safe drinking water.
