Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah inaugurated the Patanjali Emergency and Critical Care Hospital today, marking a historic milestone in healthcare with the launch of what is being described as the world's first hybrid hospital. The facility, operated by Patanjali Yogpeeth, uniquely combines modern medical practices with traditional systems to offer a comprehensive approach to health and wellness.
Focus on Integrated Medicine and Traditional Therapies
During the inauguration ceremony, Amit Shah inspected the hospital and praised the integrated medicine approach, calling it a significant step toward providing holistic healthcare. The hospital aims to treat 90 to 99 percent of its patients using non-invasive, traditional methods before considering surgery or other contemporary medical interventions. This philosophy emphasizes addressing the root causes of ailments, such as stress, inflammation, and body toxins, through natural therapies.
The treatments offered at the facility include:
- Yoga therapy and Ayurveda
- Naturopathy and Panchakarma
- Shatkarmas and Pancha Mahabhuta therapy
- Medicated food and water programs
- Lifestyle counselling sessions
Additionally, the hospital provides specialized cleansing therapies such as colon therapy, over 100 varieties of Basti, Shirodhara, Abhyanga, Nasya, Akshi Tarpan, and Shankh Prakshalana. According to Yoga Guru Swami Ramdev, contemporary medical treatments are reserved only for urgent or catastrophic situations, ensuring that patients receive gentle, evidence-based care.
Advanced Medical Facilities and Emergency Services
Beyond traditional therapies, the hospital is equipped with state-of-the-art medical infrastructure to handle complex cases. It can perform advanced surgeries on the heart, brain, and spine, including cardiology operations like angioplasty, bypass surgery, pacemaker implantation, and stent procedures. The departments cover a wide range of specialties, ensuring comprehensive care for patients.
Key departments include:
- Cardiology and neurology
- Orthopaedics and general surgery
- Gynaecology and nephrology
- Dialysis services
Emergency and diagnostic services are available around-the-clock, supported by modern imaging capabilities such as ultrasound, digital X-ray, and MRI. The hospital also features upscale intensive care units and trauma units with ventilator support, along with a specialized emergency ambulance service to ensure timely medical assistance.
Research Collaborations and Global Partnerships
Patanjali Hospital has established robust research collaborations with nearly 10 AIIMS facilities across India, including those in Rishikesh, Delhi, Guwahati, Jammu & Kashmir, and Bhopal. These partnerships aim to advance medical research and integrate traditional practices with modern science. Additionally, the hospital collaborates with 25 global medical institutions across Europe, Australia, and the United States, fostering international knowledge exchange.
The treatments offered at the hospital are backed by clinical data from over 13.8 million patients, making it a unique blend of traditional practice and research-driven, evidence-based care. This data-driven approach ensures that patients receive safe and effective treatments tailored to their needs.
Accessibility, Vision, and Future Expansion
Swami Ramdev highlighted the hospital's commitment to accessibility, stating that economically weaker patients will have access to affordable treatment, while those who can afford advanced care will receive services at controlled costs. With 250 beds, the hospital aims to position India as a global destination for integrated healthcare and plans to expand this model across the country and internationally.
The hospital represents a seamless blend of traditional and modern medicine, offering innovative therapies, emergency services, and preventive care all under one roof. Experts believe that this integrated approach could serve as a guiding model for future hospitals seeking to combine conventional and holistic care, revolutionizing the healthcare landscape.
The inauguration was attended by prominent dignitaries, including Yoga Guru Swami Ramdev, Acharya Balkrishna, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, MP Trivendra Singh Rawat, Education Minister Dhan Singh Rawat, and other officials, underscoring the significance of this initiative in promoting wellness and healthcare innovation.
