President Droupadi Murmu emphasized the critical importance of spiritual awakening through meditation for creating global harmony during her address in Lucknow on Friday. The President participated in the inauguration ceremony of the Brahma Kumaris' year-long campaign titled 'Meditation for World Unity and Trust,' where she highlighted the enduring relevance of India's ancient philosophy.
Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam: India's Timeless Message to the World
President Murmu stressed that the concept of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam - meaning 'the world is one family' - holds the key to addressing contemporary global challenges. She noted that despite unprecedented technological progress, modern society faces increasing stress, mental insecurity, and loneliness. "It is essential that we begin a journey not only of moving forward but also of looking within ourselves," the President stated during her significant address.
The Path to Global Harmony Through Inner Peace
The President elaborated on the profound connection between individual peace and global harmony, asserting that enduring trust requires a peaceful mind, clean thoughts, and pure feelings. "When we pause and communicate with ourselves, we experience that peace and joy are not external but within us," she observed, adding that awakened spiritual consciousness naturally brings love, compassion, and unity into daily life.
President Murmu described a peaceful mind as the fundamental building block for world peace, noting that collective inner stability creates the foundation for global unity. She expressed confidence that the Brahma Kumaris' campaign would significantly contribute to realizing this ancient ideal in modern times.
Government Initiatives and Global Recognition
The President highlighted the Indian government's parallel efforts to build a value-based society, particularly through the promotion of International Yoga Day. She also mentioned the incorporation of value-based education and life nutrition into the National Education Policy as steps in this direction.
Referring to the G-20 Summit hosted by India in 2023, President Murmu noted that the theme 'One Earth, One Family, One Future' reinforced the same important message. She emphasized that humanity's future will be secured through human values, dialogue, trust, and spiritual consciousness.
While acknowledging humanity's unprecedented progress through science and technology, including achievements in artificial intelligence, digital transformation, and space exploration, the President pointed out that technological advancement has also brought increased stress, insecurity, distrust, and loneliness.
President Murmu praised the Brahma Kumaris organization for their extensive work in spiritual awakening and value-based education, particularly appreciating their reach from villages to cities worldwide. She congratulated them for their initiative in facilitating this essential encounter with the Self through meditation practices.
