In a significant address that linked global instability to the human psyche, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath declared that the root cause of worldwide terrorism and chaos lies in the negative and outward tendencies of the mind. He made these powerful remarks on Friday during the inauguration of the year-long Brahma Kumaris campaign, 'Meditation for World Unity and Trust'.
The Mind: Source of Bondage and Liberation
The Chief Minister elaborated that the ultimate solution to global disorder is not found solely in military strength, but in the disciplined practice of turning the mind inward. He emphasized that a purified mind is the most potent weapon against destruction. Quoting the saint Ravidas, he stated, "Mann changa to kathauti mein Ganga," which translates to the profound idea that when the mind is pure, even a small vessel can contain the holiness of the Ganga.
He explained that the restless mind, when focused outward, breeds negativity and violence. However, when these same tendencies are turned inward through practices like Rajyoga meditation, the mind becomes a fountain of personal peace and global welfare. "The mind alone is the cause of bondage and liberation," he affirmed, underscoring the core philosophy of the event.
India's Spiritual Fight Against Terrorism
CM Yogi Adityanath provided a unique interpretation of terrorism, framing it within India's ancient spiritual traditions. He stated that wherever disorder emerges in the world, it is driven by unstable mental impulses that lead individuals toward negativity. India, he asserted, is continuing its multi-frontal battle against these destructive tendencies—both materially and spiritually.
He connected this effort to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's successful initiative of establishing International Yoga Day on June 21, for which the entire nation is grateful. This global recognition of India's spiritual heritage, he suggested, is a key part of the same fight.
Honoring Inspirational Leaders and a New Spiritual Hub
The event was also marked by tributes to esteemed leaders. Chief Minister Yogi warmly welcomed President Droupadi Murmu, highlighting her journey from a tribal schoolteacher to the Rashtrapati Bhawan as a living inspiration and a remarkable saga of resilience. He also extended reverence to Governor Anandiben Patel, another former teacher now guiding the state.
He lavished praise on the Prajapita Brahma Kumaris Ishwariya Vishwa Vidyalaya for establishing a magnificent new Rajyoga training centre in Lucknow. Expressing great confidence, he predicted that this centre would soon rank among India's finest spiritual training hubs, offering one-day, three-day, and weekly courses to reconnect thousands with positivity and drive societal transformation.
