Aizawl's Christmas Parade Led by CM Lalduhoma

A festive Christmas costume parade brought vibrant energy to the streets of Aizawl this week, marking a key highlight of the state's seasonal celebrations. The event, which saw active participation from Mizoram's Chief Minister Lalduhoma and his family, stretched from Chanmari to Lammual, drawing large crowds of spectators.

A City Transformed for Celebration

Organized by the state tourism department in collaboration with an event management firm, the parade on Tuesday led to a significant change in the city's usual bustle. The busy Aizawl market area was declared a 'no vehicle zone' for the day and the following Wednesday. This move allowed a safe and spacious environment for participants and a large number of onlookers to fully immerse themselves in the festive atmosphere.

Procession of Music, Culture, and Inclusivity

The procession commenced from Zarkawt Junction, led by Chief Minister Lalduhoma and State Tourism Minister Lalnghinglova Hmar, along with other department officials. The air was filled with melodious tunes provided by the Venghnuai Church Brass Band. Adding a creative and modern flair, the Mizoram Cosplay Organisation displayed an array of imaginative and colorful costumes.

Cultural richness was on full display as students from the Institute of Music & Fine Arts, operating under the art & culture department, showcased traditional Mizo attires. In a heartwarming display of inclusivity, members of the Mizoram Down Syndrome Association also joined the celebratory march, making the event a true community affair.

Grand Finale and Festive Greetings

The parade culminated at Lammual, where a Christmas Carol Concert and the closing ceremony of the Winter Festival 2025 were held. During the closing program, Chief Minister Lalduhoma extended warm Christmas greetings and best wishes to the people of Mizoram, the Mizo community across the globe, and all Indians celebrating the festival.

A notable feature of the event was the announcement of the Best Costume Award, which carried a cash prize of Rs 5,000. The honor was claimed by Lalrinnunga and Rebek Lalremruati for their poignant and well-executed portrayal of Mary and Joseph, the parents of Jesus Christ.

The successful parade not only provided festive joy but also served as a vibrant showcase of Mizoram's cultural tapestry and community spirit, effectively concluding the Winter Festival 2025 on a high note.
