Budanuru Utsav Returns to Mandya with Grand Heritage Celebrations
The vibrant three-day Budanuru Utsav is set to commence its second edition in Mandya taluk on February 20, 2024, celebrating the region's profound cultural and historical legacy. Inauguration and Key Highlights
The festival will be formally inaugurated on February 21 by District Minister N Cheluvarayaswamy, marking a significant moment for the community. A standout initiative organized by Mandya MLA Ravikumar involves a unique heli-tourism program. Under this scheme, ten government school students and five progressive farmers will be given the extraordinary opportunity to fly in a helicopter. This initiative aims to inspire young minds by exposing them to new perspectives and to honor the invaluable contributions of farmers to the region's prosperity.
Historical Significance and Cultural Programs
Speaking to reporters, MLA Ravikumar emphasized Budanuru's deep historical roots, tracing its importance back to the 15th century Hoysala era. The village is renowned for housing the famed Ananthapadmanabha Temple, considered the second of its kind in South India, alongside the historic Kashi Vishwanatha Temple, both of which underscore the area's spiritual heritage.
The cultural extravaganza will feature a special program on the evening of February 21, presented by acclaimed music director Gurukiran and his team. The valedictory ceremony on February 22 will conclude with captivating cultural performances by Rajesh Krishnan and his ensemble, ensuring a memorable finale to the festivities.

Preparatory celebrations kick off on February 17 with a drawing competition for students, fostering creativity among the youth. This will be followed by rangoli competitions for women on February 18 and 19, highlighting traditional art forms.
