In a significant boost to spiritual infrastructure in Dev Bhoomi, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu inaugurated the newly constructed Ban Ganga Ghat in Kangra on Tuesday. The ceremony was marked by the Chief Minister performing the evening aarti amidst resonant Vedic chants, setting the tone for the ghat's future as a major devotional hub.
Enhanced Facilities for Devotees and Tourists
Addressing the gathering, CM Sukhu detailed the comprehensive development undertaken at the site to ensure the comfort and convenience of visitors. A grand 25-foot trident is being installed within the ghat complex, serving as a towering spiritual landmark. The project includes a dedicated platform for the aarti, well-equipped changing rooms, public toilets, an attractive stage, a beautifully landscaped park, and enhanced lighting throughout the area.
The daily evening aarti is poised to become a prime attraction, drawing thousands of devotees who frequent the holy site. Recognizing the ghat's importance for ritual bathing, the Chief Minister emphasized that the development provides a well-organised and safe environment for pilgrims to take a holy dip and perform religious rites.
A New Centre for Faith and Culture
CM Sukhu highlighted Himachal Pradesh's identity as 'Dev Bhoomi' (Land of Gods) and noted the Bajreshwari Temple in Kangra as a pivotal centre of faith. The new Ban Ganga Ghat is envisioned to complement this spiritual ecosystem. Beyond the daily rituals, the ghat will transform into a vibrant cultural venue.
The government plans to organise regular yoga sessions, along with various religious and cultural programmes at the site. This initiative aims not only to cater to devotees but also to enhance the experience for tourists, promoting Kangra as a holistic destination for spirituality and wellness.
The inauguration of the Ban Ganga Ghat marks a strategic step by the state government to upgrade pilgrimage infrastructure, fostering both religious tourism and local cultural engagement in the region.
