In a significant gesture of communal harmony, the Mar Baselios Mar Gregorios Orthodox Church, a parish of the Malankara Orthodox Church located in Thazhathangady, Kottayam, hosted an iftar gathering on Thursday at its premises. Father P A Philip, the vicar of the church who also heads the ministry of human empowerment of the Orthodox Church, expressed his enthusiasm for the initiative. "Thazhathangady is a place known for upholding secular values, and people of all religions coexist happily here."

Father Philip highlighted this unique aspect, noting, "In a 500-meter radius from the church, there are three mosques." The Malankara Orthodox Church, believed to have been founded by St. Thomas the Apostle in 52 AD, boasts a rich legacy in India, with a vibrant presence in Kerala.
