Lucknow Temples Adorned for Mahashivratri Celebrations This Sunday

As the auspicious festival of Mahashivratri approaches this Sunday, temples across Lucknow are being meticulously decked up with vibrant decorations and preparations for grand celebrations. According to legend, Mahashivratri commemorates the divine marriage of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati, making it a significant event for devotees.

Mankameshwar Temple: A Glittering Transformation

At the renowned Mankameshwar temple, the premises are undergoing a stunning transformation with the installation of colorful LED lights, fresh flowers, and artificial plastic strings to create a festive ambiance. Mahant Devyagiri of the temple stated, "The temple has been thoroughly cleaned and white-washed in preparation. It will open for devotees after the morning arti and remain accessible until midnight."

Devotees can participate in the morning arti scheduled for 3:30 AM on Sunday, followed by an evening arti at 8:00 PM. As part of the offerings, sabudana khichdi, fruits, and makhana will be presented as bhog to the deity. Additionally, a bhandara featuring kheer will be organized to serve the faithful.

Mahakal Temple: Rituals and Decorations

The Mahakal temple in Rajendranagar is also being adorned with bright LED lights and floral arrangements. The deity will be decorated with turmeric and sandalwood, enhancing the spiritual atmosphere. Key rituals include Rudrabhishek, where water or milk is offered to the deity, and Bhasma arti, both set to take place at 4:00 AM.

Atul Mishra, coordinator of the temple committee, shared, "Chappan bhog will be offered to the deity, and prasad will be distributed among devotees." This ensures a rich cultural and religious experience for all attendees.

Buddheshwar Temple: Fair and Prasad Distribution

At Buddheshwar temple in Dubagga, a two-day fair is planned for Sunday and Monday, accompanied by a bhandara for devotees. Morning arti will be held at 2:30 AM, with evening arti at 7:00 PM. Arvind Singh, senior vice-president of the temple committee, mentioned, "Fruits, puri, sabzi, and kheer will be served as prasad to devotees," providing nourishment and blessings.

51 Shaktipeeth Temple: Jalabhishek and Timings

The 51 Shaktipeeth temple will conduct Jalabhishek, a ritual of offering water to the deity, as part of its Mahashivratri observances. Morning arti is scheduled for 6:30 AM, with evening arti at 6:30 PM. The deity will be adorned with bel leaves, symbolizing devotion.

Tripti Tiwari, president of the temple trust, confirmed, "The temple will be opened for devotees from 6:30 AM until 11:00 PM," allowing extended hours for worship and participation.

These preparations across Lucknow's temples highlight the city's dedication to honoring Lord Shiva with elaborate rituals, decorations, and community feasts, fostering a spirit of unity and reverence among devotees during this sacred festival.
