Nagpur's Premier Senior Citizen Cultural Festival Set for Grand Fourth Edition

The vibrant city of Nagpur is gearing up to host the fourth edition of the Khasdar Jyeshtha Nagrik Sanskritik Mahotsav, a dedicated cultural festival celebrating senior citizens. This eagerly anticipated event will unfold over two enriching days, February 14 and 15, at the prestigious Kavivarya Suresh Bhat Auditorium located in Reshimbagh.

A Festival of Joy, Positivity, and Community Engagement

Organized annually by the Jyeshtha Nagrik Pratishthan, the mahotsav has a core mission to provide meaningful entertainment, foster a spirit of positivity, and actively encourage social participation among the elderly. It serves as a vital platform for senior citizens to connect, celebrate, and engage with the arts and their community.

Star-Studded Inauguration and Musical Extravaganza

The festival will be officially inaugurated on February 14 at 10:30 AM in a ceremony graced by distinguished personalities. The inauguration will be performed by acclaimed actress and three-time Filmfare Award winner, Padmini Kolhapure. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari will preside over the function, with senior leader Datta Meghe attending as the chief guest.

Following the inaugural proceedings, attendees will be treated to a captivating light music programme by the legendary Padma Shri and Sangeet Natak Akademi awardee, Suresh Wadkar, promising an afternoon of melodic delight.

Day Two: Celebrating Marathi Culture and Social Discourse

The cultural festivities continue on February 15, commencing at 10:30 AM with the popular Marathi programme 'Ayushyavar Bolu Kahi'. This thoughtful presentation will be staged by the renowned poet-lyricist-composer duo, Salil Kulkarni and Sandeep Khare. Adding to the significance of the event, noted Marathi actress, writer, and social activist Nishigandha Wad will also be present.

Honoring Contributions and Ensuring Accessibility

A special highlight of the festival will be the felicitation of senior citizens who have made notable contributions across various fields and to social development, recognizing their lifelong service and achievements.

Entry to the entire two-day festival is completely free. However, obtaining a pass is mandatory for attendance. Free passes can be collected conveniently between 12 noon and 4 PM from three designated locations:

  • Suresh Bhat Auditorium
  • Jyeshtha Nagrik Pratishthan office
  • Nitin Gadkari Jan Sampark Karyalaya

Over the years, this esteemed festival has hosted a remarkable array of eminent personalities from cinema, music, and literature, including Rajdutt, Jeetendra, Mithun Chakraborty, Sameer, Nitin Mukesh, Anup Jalota, Vandana Gupte, and Shekhar Sen, cementing its reputation as a major cultural event.

Datta Meghe, along with the trustees of the Pratishthan, has warmly appealed to senior citizens and the general public to attend and support this celebration of wisdom and culture. The festival details were formally announced at a press conference attended by key organizers including Dr. Raju Mishra, Ramesh Mankar, Dr. Sanjay Ugemuge, Anil Sole, Avinash Ghushe, Narayan Samarth, Ashok Mankar, and Prabhakar Yewale.
