In a significant move to transform early education through culture, India's Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC) has forged a strategic five-year alliance with Qatar Museums (QM). The partnership, signed in Doha, is centered on developing innovative Museum-in-Residence education initiatives aimed at children and educators in both India and Qatar.
A Landmark Agreement for Learning
The formal agreement was inked at the National Museum of Qatar. The signatories were Her Excellency Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, the Chairperson of Qatar Museums, and Isha Ambani, a Director at Reliance Industries. This collaboration is designed to introduce and adapt Qatar Museums' acclaimed, education-led practices within the Indian context through NMACC.
The core objective is to implement immersive, multidisciplinary learning programs that utilize a play-based model. These initiatives will be rolled out in schools and various cultural spaces across India. A key component is the professional development of teachers and volunteers, who will receive training in new methodologies to nurture creativity and curiosity in young learners.
Empowering Educators, Inspiring Children
While children are the primary beneficiaries, the program is structured for long-term impact by empowering educators. The goal is to equip them with the tools to integrate museum-based learning approaches into diverse educational settings, from urban classrooms to community centers.
In India, NMACC will collaborate closely with the Reliance Foundation to implement these programs in multiple regions. Specialists from Qatar Museums, including experts from the Dadu, Children's Museum of Qatar, will conduct masterclasses and provide hands-on mentoring. Each program will be tailored to fit local learning contexts.
Leaders Hail a Shared Vision
Expressing her enthusiasm, Isha Ambani stated that NMACC is committed to bringing global ideas to India while sharing the nation's rich heritage with the world. She emphasized that both institutions believe "culture is where imagination begins, and education is where potential becomes real." The partnership aims to spark new learning forms that empower every child.
Sheikha Al Mayassa highlighted the shared belief that creativity and cultural exchange are crucial for shaping a new generation of confident learners. She noted this collaboration extends the legacy of Qatar's Year of Culture with India and will allow QM to contribute its expertise to NMACC's expanding educational outreach throughout India.
The partnership aligns with Qatar's National Vision 2030 and marks a major step in NMACC's evolution as a global cultural and educational platform. Future plans include extending these programs to anganwadis and community centres in rural and underserved areas, with a focus on fostering creativity, empathy, and discovery.
