In a vibrant celebration of cultural richness, the closing ceremony of Odisha Parba 2026 was held at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi, drawing accolades for the Odia community's significant role in nation building. Delhi’s Minister for Art, Culture and Language, Tourism and Labour, Kapil Mishra, attended the event and commended the community for its enduring contributions to India's development.
Minister Mishra Highlights Cultural Diversity and Unity
Addressing the gathering, Minister Kapil Mishra emphasized the growing cultural diversity in the national capital, noting that festivals like Odisha Parba strengthen national unity by showcasing traditions from across the country. He stated, "With the blessings of Lord Jagannath, cultural nationalism and religious tourism are gaining strength in Delhi. Festivals and cultural traditions from every state are now finding expression in the national capital. Delhi is emerging as a reflection of the diverse cultures of the country, offering a clear glimpse of 'Mini India'."
Mishra connected this cultural exchange to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's "Ek Bharat–Shreshtha Bharat" initiative, which aims to promote unity and mutual understanding among states. He added that under the leadership of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, Delhi is steadily emerging as the cultural capital, with grand celebrations of foundation days from various states being organized regularly. The minister projected that events associated with different states would continue to grow in scale and grandeur in the coming years.
