Ranchi Adorns Itself in Saffron for Ram Navami Celebrations

Ranchi, the capital city of Jharkhand, has transformed into a vibrant sea of saffron flags and banners in anticipation of Ram Navami. Markets across the city experienced a significant surge in activity on Thursday, the eve of the festival, as devotees flocked to purchase essential items for the celebrations.

Markets Bustle with Festive Shoppers

Key commercial hubs including Upper Bazar, Main Road, and Doranda reported a steady influx of customers. Shoppers were seen buying puja materials, religious flags, idols of deities, and traditional attire. Manoj Kumar, a shopkeeper in Upper Bazar, noted, "There has been a remarkable increase in footfall. People are particularly interested in Hanuman flags and other puja necessities." The brisk business indicates the high enthusiasm among residents for the festival.

Temples Prepare for Early Morning Devotees

Temples throughout Ranchi have been meticulously decorated with flowers and lights to welcome devotees starting from the early hours of Friday. Sushil Dubey, president of Tapovan Temple, explained, "Devotees begin arriving as early as 3 am for prayers on Ram Navami. The devotional atmosphere intensifies throughout the day, with turnout increasing progressively." The spiritual fervor is palpable across the city's religious sites.

Municipal Corporation Ensures Smooth Celebrations

In preparation for the thousands expected to participate in vibrant street processions, the Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) has implemented comprehensive arrangements. Special cleaning drives were conducted along major routes and religious sites. Dustbins have been strategically placed to prevent littering, and a major drain near Tapovan temple was cleaned to avoid waterlogging issues.

Free Transportation and Essential Services

The RMC announced free city bus services on ten routes connecting Bariatu, Kanke Road, Ratu Road, and Namkum. Five additional buses will remain on standby for emergency deployment, with priority given to women, children, and elderly passengers. The corporation's official statement detailed further measures:

  • Installation of 35 generators and 686 additional high mast lights for illumination
  • Deployment of 25 water tankers at various points along with ambulances
  • Setup of mobile toilets at key locations including Kutchery Chowk, Shaheed Chowk, and Albert Ekka Chowk

"RMC is ensuring special cleanliness drives, drinking water supply through tankers, mobile toilets at key locations and free bus services for devotees. Additional lighting, drain coverage, tree trimming and continuous monitoring by seven dedicated teams are in place to provide a safe and well-organised environment," the statement emphasized.

The coordinated efforts by municipal authorities aim to facilitate a secure, clean, and spiritually enriching Ram Navami celebration for all residents and visitors in Ranchi.
