Shahi Imam Predicts Eid Date, Calls for Peace Prayers

In a significant announcement from Lucknow, the Shahi Imam of the city and a distinguished member of the All India Muslim Personal Law Board, Maulana Khalid Rasheed Firangi Mahali, has provided insights into the anticipated date for Eid-ul-Fitr. He stated that the crescent moon, which marks the end of the holy month of Ramzan, is expected to be sighted on March 19.

Moon Sighting and Eid Date Predictions

Maulana Khalid Rasheed elaborated that there is a strong likelihood the moon will not be visible on the evening of March 19. This scenario would make March 20 the 30th day of Ramzan, leading to Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations being observed on March 21. The final and official announcement regarding the moon sighting and the exact date of Eid will be made by the Markazi Chand Committee in Lucknow at 7:30 pm on March 19.

Spiritual Significance of Eid

Emphasizing the profound spiritual essence of Eid, Maulana Khalid Rasheed highlighted that this festival serves as a divine reward granted after a rigorous month of fasting, prayer, charity, and unwavering devotion during Ramzan. He underscored that Eid is not merely a celebration but a culmination of spiritual discipline and self-purification.

Special Prayers for Peace and Global Harmony

In a heartfelt appeal, Maulana Khalid Rasheed announced that following the traditional Eid prayers, special supplications will be offered across the country. These prayers are dedicated to fostering peace and global harmony, reflecting the universal message of unity and compassion inherent in Islamic teachings. He called upon the community to join in these prayers to promote a world free from conflict and strife.

The Shahi Imam's statements come at a time when global tensions, such as the ongoing conflicts involving Israel and Iran, highlight the urgent need for peace. By integrating this call for harmony into the Eid celebrations, Maulana Khalid Rasheed aims to reinforce the role of faith in bridging divides and advocating for a peaceful coexistence worldwide.
