Vadodara Food Safety Officials Seal Eight Eateries in Major Inspection Drive

Food safety officials from the Vadodara Municipal Corporation conducted a sweeping inspection across the city on Monday. They targeted 46 food business operators in a coordinated effort to enforce hygiene standards.

Widespread Inspections Across Multiple Areas

Teams from the civic body's food safety department fanned out across several key locations. They covered Fatehgunj, Tandalja, Sardar Estate, Bhayli, and Manjalpur areas during the drive.

The inspection covered a wide range of food establishments. Officials checked restaurants, street food vendors, caterers, and other food businesses operating in these neighborhoods.

Eight Establishments Sealed for Serious Violations

Officials took decisive action against eight food businesses during the inspection. They sealed these establishments immediately for various serious violations.

According to food safety officials, the sealed units included several types of problematic operations. Some eateries were operating without valid licences from the authorities. Others maintained highly unhygienic conditions that posed health risks to consumers.

The most serious cases involved establishments where officials found large quantities of food unfit for human consumption. These discoveries prompted immediate sealing actions to prevent further public health risks.

Notices Issued and Massive Food Destruction

Beyond the sealed establishments, officials issued notices to 15 other food business operators. These notices served as warnings for various compliance issues found during inspections.

During the drive, officials made a significant discovery of unsafe food items. They identified and destroyed a massive 560 kilograms of food deemed unsafe for human consumption. This destruction prevented potentially hazardous food from reaching consumers.

Plastic Seizure and Financial Penalties

The inspection drive also targeted environmental violations. Officials seized approximately 30 kilograms of single-use plastic items being used by some establishments. They initiated action against violators found using banned plastic materials.

The civic body collected substantial fines from erring food business operators. Officials imposed penalties totaling Rs 50,000 during the enforcement drive. These fines served as both punishment and deterrent against future violations.

Ongoing Food Safety Efforts

The Monday inspection represents part of VMC's ongoing food safety initiatives. Such drives help maintain public health standards across Vadodara's food establishments.

Officials emphasized that regular inspections will continue. They urged all food business operators to maintain proper hygiene standards and obtain necessary licences. The civic body remains committed to protecting consumer health through such enforcement actions.
