Malaika Arora's Scarlett House: Rs 550 Khichdi & Rs 350 Anti-Ageing Water in Mumbai
Inside Malaika Arora's luxury restaurant Scarlett House

Bollywood celebrity and fitness icon Malaika Arora has ventured into the hospitality industry with a luxurious new dining destination in the heart of Mumbai. Named Scarlett House, this upscale restaurant, launched in December last year, is rapidly becoming the city's new celebrity hotspot, known as much for its exquisite vintage ambience as for its premium pricing.

A Culinary Venture With Family At Its Core

Scarlett House is not just a business venture for Malaika Arora; it's a family affair. The actor-dancer has co-founded the restaurant as a joint venture with her son, Arhaan Khan. They are joined by partners restaurateur Dhaval Udeshi and Malaya Nagpal. In a recent interview with Architectural Digest, Malaika revealed the inspiration behind the project, stating the idea began as a dream to create "the next coolest café." She described it as "love at first sight" with the location, a charming 90-year-old Indo-Portuguese bungalow nestled in the winding lanes of Bandra's Pali Village.

"We were enthralled by the charm of this quaint red Portuguese gem," Malaika said, adding that the structure itself inspired the name Scarlett House. The restaurant spans a generous 2,500 square feet within this beautifully restored heritage property.

Lavish Interiors & A-List Clientele

The design philosophy of Scarlett House leans heavily into nostalgia and rustic simplicity, creating a warm, timeless atmosphere. The space features an ambitious sunlit living room with a stunning open glass house roof. The decor is a thoughtful mix of mismatched vintage furniture, artisanal craftsmanship, and warm wooden finishes, all set against white walls for a retro vibe.

Malaika's vision was to create a place of "quiet and warm luxury" that feels so embracing that guests would want to stay for hours. The venue includes separate dedicated areas like a coffee bar, a wine room, and multiple dining spaces. Its allure has already drawn in Mumbai's glitterati, with sightings of Kareena Kapoor Khan, Karisma Kapoor, and Kajol among its patrons.

The Menu: From Comfort Food To Premium Hydration

Scarlett House offers a diverse menu catering to both vegetarian and non-vegetarian preferences, alongside an extensive selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. The pricing, however, is decidedly high-end, positioning it firmly in the luxury dining segment.

Comfort food gets a gourmet makeover here. The menu lists a Masala Khichdi for Rs 550, Avocado Toast at Rs 625, and a Vegetarian Fig & Burrata Bliss Salad priced at Rs 720. For non-vegetarian lovers, the Ludhiana-style White Butter Chicken is valued at Rs 750.

A standout feature is India's first Hydration Bar, introduced by Malaika Arora at the restaurant. This innovative bar serves specialised drinks and smoothies targeting wellness concerns like fatigue, low immunity, skin dullness, and recovery. Options include an 'anti-ageing' infused water for Rs 350 per bottle and a hangover remedy drink at the same price. A cold-press juice designed to promote healthy hair, containing beetroot, kokum, pomegranate, and other ingredients, costs Rs 450. Non-alcoholic beverages range between Rs 650 and Rs 700.

The alcoholic beverage menu is equally expansive, featuring fancy cocktails and a premium champagne that tops the list at Rs 20,900 per bottle.

Malaika shared that the food is inspired by dishes she loves to eat in her kitchen and during her travels, joking that her team believes the menu should be called "Mala's Specialist." She also credited her son Arhaan for bringing youthful energy and shaping the coffee program, emphasising that Scarlett House is deeply rooted in a sense of community.
