AP Tourism's Haritha Hotels Renamed Haritha Punnami

In a significant move to revitalize its hospitality brand, the Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (APTDC) has decided to rename its chain of Haritha Hotel properties across the state. The decision was taken during the 207th APTDC board meeting held in Vijayawada on Thursday.

A Fresh Identity: From Haritha Hotels to Haritha Punnami

Chairing the board meeting, APTDC Chairman Dr. Nukasani Balaji announced that all 67 Operations and Maintenance (O&M) properties will now operate under the new brand name "Haritha Punnami". This rebranding initiative aims to present a renewed and unified image of the state's tourism hospitality services. Dr. Balaji confirmed that new signage bearing the updated name will be installed at all these properties statewide.

Massive Investment and Key Projects Unveiled

The board meeting was not just about a name change. It laid out an ambitious roadmap for tourism development in Andhra Pradesh. A major highlight is the plan to sign Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) worth a staggering Rs 19,000 crore to boost the sector.

Specific development projects were given the green light. The tourism department will develop the popular destinations of Gandikota and Simhachalam using central funds, with development works estimated at Rs 450 crore. Furthermore, concerted efforts are underway to secure the prestigious international Blue Flag certification for Suryalanka Beach, a recognition of high environmental and quality standards.

Looking ahead, the board plans to develop the Srisailam–Tripurantakam temple circuit. Detailed project reports (DPRs) will also be prepared for tourism initiatives in several promising locations, including Vanajangi, Araku, Dorakonda, and Paderu.

Employee Welfare and Infrastructure Upgrades

In a major decision benefiting its workforce, the APTDC board approved promotions for all eligible regular and contract employees. The board also sanctioned a salary increment of Rs 2,000 every six years for outsourced employees. Contract employees who are not eligible for promotions will also receive a similar Rs 2,000 increase.

In a move to enhance employee security, the accident insurance coverage for all APTDC employees has been doubled from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 10 lakh.

To modernize its properties, the board cleared proposals for the installation of CCTV cameras, Wi-Fi, and intercom facilities across all APTDC hotels. Infrastructure expansion includes the construction of a multi-purpose office building at Berm Park and additional accommodation rooms at Lepakshi.

To ensure accountability and quality, the board mandated a third-party audit of engineering works executed over the past six-and-a-half years. This audit will be conducted by experts from JNTU and Acharya Nagarjuna University.
