For content creator Unnati Devaliya, this was initially a fleeting detail during a routine outing. Visiting relatives in Kharadi, Pune, she and her group booked an auto from Yerawada. The ride felt ordinary until the very end, when the line inside the vehicle caught their attention as they were getting down. "We noticed it right at the end," Unnati told The Times of India. "It just felt very genuine." They recorded a short video and moved on, not expecting it to gain traction.
However, hours later, the words lingered in her mind. "It stayed with me," she said, describing the message as simple and honest. When she shared the video online, the response was overwhelming. People connected deeply with the quiet reassurance it offered, not because it was flashy, but because it reflected a sense of safety that many commuters often miss in their daily travels.
Finding the Person Behind the Words
Initially, Unnati had no details about the driver—no name or contact information. Determined to credit the person behind the message, she reached out to ride-sharing platform Rapido on Instagram for help in identifying him. This led her to Datta Rumale, the auto driver. "When I spoke to him, he sounded genuinely happy," Unnati recalled. Interestingly, Rumale isn’t active on social media; it was his wife, a content creator herself, who came across the viral video and helped trace it back to him.
A Visit That Added Context and Warmth
Unnati and her companions later visited Rumale at his home, bringing a cake as a small gesture of appreciation. They met a modest family—Rumale lives with his wife and two children in a simple home, and the interaction was warm and easy. "They were very humble and kind," Unnati said. In conversation, the family shared insights into their daily routine, discussing the unpredictability of work and how finding passengers often involves traveling several kilometers before the day properly begins. There was no complaint, just a straightforward account of their life.
A Small Gesture That Made a Big Difference
On their way back, Rumale dropped them at a bus stand. When they offered ₹100 as fare, he hesitated before accepting it. Minutes later, he returned with two bottles of water and the remaining change. "It was unexpected," Unnati remarked, noting that this small act of kindness left a lasting impression.
