Amit Shah Highlights India's Sustainable Development Journey at University Convocation

Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah declared on Tuesday that the tradition of sustainable development began in India over the past eleven years. He made this statement while addressing the 15th convocation ceremony of Charotar University of Science and Technology (CHARUSAT) in Changa, located in Anand district.

Celebrating Student Achievements

The ceremony marked a significant milestone for the university. A total of 2,129 students received their graduation degrees. Among them, 45 outstanding students were honored with gold medals. Additionally, 38 scholars were awarded doctorate degrees during the event.

Economic and Digital Transformation

Shah emphasized the country's remarkable progress since 2014. He noted that India's economy has climbed from the eleventh position globally to the fourth spot. The minister expressed confidence that India will soon become the world's third-largest economy.

He highlighted several key achievements. India now accounts for 50 percent of global digital transactions. Digital connectivity has expanded dramatically, reaching 1.50 lakh villages compared to less than 500 villages in 2014.

The minister also pointed out India's leading positions in various sectors. The country has become the third-largest mobile manufacturer globally. It holds the third position in the automobile sector and the top position in milk production worldwide.

Educational Expansion and Character Building

Amit Shah stressed the importance of combining education with character. He quoted Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, stating that education without character remains useless. According to Shah, knowledge alone cannot benefit individuals or society. Universities must discipline young students, build their character, and instill a sense of social responsibility.

The minister provided impressive statistics on educational growth. From independence until 2014, India had 51,000 higher education institutions. In just ten years, 78,000 new institutions have been established. The number of universities increased from 790 to 1,319, while colleges grew from 38,498 to 53,000.

Medical education has seen substantial expansion. Medical colleges increased from 387 to 818. MBBS seats rose from 51,000 to 1.29 lakh, and postgraduate seats jumped from 31,000 to 82,000.

Vision for India's Future

Shah described the current period, from 75 to 100 years of independence, as an era of immortality and fulfillment for India. He emphasized that immense opportunities have been created for the youth during this transformative phase.

The convocation ceremony served as a platform to inspire graduates. Shah urged them to carry forward the values of character and responsibility as they embark on their professional journeys.
