New Amrit Bharat Express to Transform Odisha's Rail Network
Rail connectivity in Odisha is poised for a substantial enhancement with the central government's approval of a new Amrit Bharat Express service. This train will link Podanur in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, to Dhanbad in Jharkhand, traversing through nine key stations across the state. The initiative, recently cleared by the ministry of railways, aims to facilitate smoother long-distance travel and provide improved access for passengers in the southern and western regions of Odisha.
Approval and Communication from Railway Minister
In a formal communication to Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw confirmed the approval of the new train. This decision followed extensive discussions focused on strengthening connectivity between Odisha, Tamil Nadu, and Jharkhand. The move underscores the government's commitment to enhancing regional rail infrastructure and promoting economic integration.
Comprehensive Route and District Coverage
The Amrit Bharat Express will make stops at nine major stations in Odisha: Rayagada, Muniguda, Kesinga, Titlagarh, Balangir, Bargarh road, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, and Rourkela. This route spans seven districts, covering a wide geographical stretch of the state. By connecting these areas, the service is expected to boost local economies, improve passenger convenience, and reduce travel times for commuters and long-distance travelers alike.
The introduction of this express train is anticipated to address existing gaps in rail connectivity, particularly in the southern and western parts of Odisha. It will offer a reliable and efficient transportation option, catering to the growing demand for better inter-state and intra-state travel. The project aligns with broader efforts to modernize India's railway network and support regional development through enhanced mobility.
