Denmark Ambassador Meets UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to Strengthen Bilateral Ties
In a significant diplomatic engagement, Denmark's Ambassador to India, Rasmus Abildgaard Kristensen, held a meeting with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in Lucknow on Friday. The discussions centered on enhancing investment flows, fostering technology cooperation, and building strategic partnerships across multiple high-priority sectors within the state.
Uttar Pradesh's Investment Appeal Highlighted
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath emphasized Uttar Pradesh's position as one of India's fastest-growing economies, attributing this growth to dedicated sectoral policies, robust law and order, and modernized infrastructure. He assured the Danish delegation of comprehensive government support, streamlined approval mechanisms, and a secure investment climate, actively inviting Danish corporations to explore opportunities in the state.
The CM outlined several key areas for potential collaboration, including:
- The Uttar Pradesh Defence Corridor
- Renewable energy projects
- Waste-to-energy initiatives
- Advanced water management systems
- Skill development programs
- Infrastructure development
- Healthcare advancements
Adityanath expressed strong confidence that such partnerships would significantly boost employment generation, facilitate technology transfer, and promote sustainable development across Uttar Pradesh.
Denmark's Interest in UP's Transformation
Ambassador Rasmus Abildgaard Kristensen acknowledged the extensive transformation Uttar Pradesh has undergone over the past nine years, noting its emergence as a premier investment destination. "Earlier, UP had limited presence in investment discussions about India, but today it has established itself prominently. The state's population, skilled human resources, and strong infrastructure are key strengths," he remarked.
The Ambassador demonstrated particular interest in the Defence Corridor, highlighting Denmark's established expertise in the defence sector and the readiness of Danish firms to invest and collaborate on technology. He also pointed to Denmark's proven experience in waste-to-energy and renewable energy sectors, encompassing solar power, hydrogen technologies, and compressed biogas.
Expanding Cooperation to New Domains
On environmental sustainability, Kristensen mentioned ongoing work on a river rejuvenation and water purification project in collaboration with IIT (BHU), with plans to visit Varanasi soon. The dialogue further expanded to include education, skill development, agriculture, and food processing as promising areas for future cooperation.
