First India-Nepal Border Survey Meeting Held Post Nepal PM Appointment
In a significant diplomatic development, the inaugural international meeting of the India-Nepal Joint Border Survey Team-3 convened at the Collectorate auditorium in Shravasti. This gathering marks the first such event following the appointment of Balen Shah as the Prime Minister of Nepal, highlighting ongoing bilateral cooperation between the two neighboring nations.
High-Level Attendance from Both Countries
The meeting saw participation from senior officials representing both India and Nepal. From the Indian side, key attendees included:
- Shravasti District Magistrate Ashwini Kumar Pandey
- Balrampur District Magistrate Vipin Kumar Jain
- Senior officials from Bahraich, Siddharthnagar, and Maharajganj districts
On the Nepalese delegation, chief district officers from several regions were present, such as:
- Bardiya, Banke, Rupandehi, Dang, Kapilvastu, and Nawalparasi districts
Additionally, commandants from various battalions of the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) and police superintendents from Nepal joined the discussions. Senior forest and police officials from both sides actively contributed to the talks, underscoring the comprehensive nature of the border survey efforts.
Welcoming and Leadership Roles
Shravasti District Magistrate Ashwini Kumar Pandey extended a warm welcome to the Nepal delegation, which was led by Bardiya district chief and team leader Gogan Bahadur Hamal. In a strategic move, the state government has designated the Shravasti DM as the nodal officer and team leader for Survey Team-3. This appointment entails overseeing and coordinating all related activities, ensuring smooth execution of the joint border survey initiatives.
The meeting focused on enhancing coordination and addressing border-related issues, reflecting the shared commitment to maintaining peaceful and well-defined boundaries. This collaboration is crucial for fostering regional stability and strengthening the longstanding ties between India and Nepal.
