Lucknow: Amit Pathak, an IPS officer of the Uttar Pradesh cadre, has been appointed as Inspector General in the National Security Guard (NSG). Currently serving as the Inspector General of the Devipatan Range, Pathak brings extensive experience in law and order management, counter-terrorism operations, and organized crime investigations to his new role.

Pathak has had a distinguished career, notably serving a 4.5-year tenure with the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF). During this time, he led numerous high-stakes operations that garnered national attention. Among his most significant achievements was his leadership in the investigation of the multi-crore petrol pump chip scam, which initially surfaced in Uttar Pradesh and later spread across India. This case involved complex financial fraud and required meticulous coordination with multiple agencies.

In addition to the petrol pump scam, Pathak played a pivotal role in operations targeting mafia networks, kidnapping gangs, vehicle theft syndicates, illegal liquor cartels, and anti-national elements.
